we made a bug hotel

Hammers, Hacksaw, Egg Carton and Goggles at the ready....

A few weeks ago a few of the older children made a bug hotel with Julia. The children absolutely loved helping to build it , banging in the nails, sawing the wood and most importantly working as a team.

Lots of skills developing through this activity.

Safety awareness when working with tools, gross motor and fine motor skills with all this hammering and screwing and the holding of nails.

The children have loved checking it over the last few weeks to see if many bugs have moved in yet. They have seen a few woodlice but with some wet weather this week we may have got more moved in the next time we go to check.
